Miracle or Madness
Recently the school year ended and my summer began. With this change, that came ever so abruptly this year, I decided to test the waters a little bit. You know what I mean... hop out of my comfort zone.
Natural
I believe that every form of yourself is a genuine depiction. What is natural to me?
That you are no less beautiful in make-up.
That you are no less relevant with weave.
That your worth isn't decided by the amount of people that you know.
I believe that your true beauty isn't determined by factors of yourself that you can just change; but by the features you have that are everlasting.
Your smile.
Your laugh.
Your eyes.
I believe that your personality encases true beauty.
Your selflessness.
Your selfishness.
Your calmness and your rage.
Your clear skin and your blemishes.
Your strength and your weakness.
Your ability to understand and your ignorance.
My generation has been raised to believe that your waist size is what sets you apart from other.
We grow up letting brands of clothing define us rather than adding a unique flair that only we as individuals can bring.
We put others down to hide that fact that we ourselves our flawed.
Well you know what?
We are flawed.
Our teeth will never be the perfect white because we stain them with food we eat.
Many of us will never have eyes the same distance apart from our nose on both sides.
We have no control of what curl patterns populate our head.
And we certainly don't control how each strand will react to humidity.
We use people to prevent them from leaving us.
We pursue love because we cannot find enough of it within ourselves.
We mourn the loss of those who meant the most of us; and let our sorrows consume us.
Yes, as human beings we are fallible and flawed.
But it is in this that we are unique...
Flawless.
